I'm fairly brain fried so forgive my craptastic review - but, it is what is, lol!
Lord Ascot is amazing. His acceptance of Tarrant and Alice, and all their little Underland-isms was brilliant. It feels quite true, I think. I mean, a man can't be good buddies with Charles Kingsleigh without picking up a thing or two, right?
And the whole thing about the walking sticks in the bell? I ROLLED. *snorfles*
Helen and Tarrant having their little heart-to-heart over tea was wonderful. It's very clear that while Tarrant isn't who she would have chosen for Alice, so long as Alice is happy and taken care of, that is what matters to her.
Oh, and Tarrant's anger over the how women were treated during that timeperiod? Seriously, it makes me want to turn on some female empowerment song, sing my heart out, and dedicate it to him. Seeing how my grandma is within hearing distance and I don't want to deafen her, I'll refrain. ;)
Margaret is...so sad. She's so emotionally starved, and Tarrant is so sweet, and maybe I've been reading one or two too many cheap romance novels, but I can't see this ending well. Either she's going to say something to Lowell to make him angry with Tarrant, or she's going to do something that isn't proper for a sister-in-law. That may just be me reading far to much into, but it's kinda what I got.
And you can't not feel for her. D: Poor woman.
Alice and Tarrant are due for some good luck. (I'm going to be crossing my fingers for a happy ending, as well! XD )
