What is Downal Wyth Bluddy Clichés, you ask?

That... is a Most Excellent question!  (^__^)

Well... perhaps you've noticed that (in any fandom) certain aspects of a character or plot devices become "fanon" or staples.  Here, I challenge fans (myself included!) to go back to the movie, watch it upside down and under water and from back-to-front, all the while wearing your grandpa's reading glasses, and see what contrariwise ideas occur!

For instance: Do the Hatter or Thackery or Mally ever say they like drinking tea?
*thinks... thinks... thinks...*
Hmm... no.  I don't believe they do!  (And yet we often assume it's true!)

So, let's reconsider some of these fanon bits and see what sorts of crazy, mad, wonderful ideas result!

REMEMBER: The goal of Downal Wyth Bluddy Clichés is NOT to write Out-of-Character pieces.  The GOAL is to take a good, hard look at the canon and come up with something new, interesting, and thought-provoking!

You have questions or a particular cliché that you're interested in?  Leave a comment or send a private message to me, Manniness!  (^__^)

Previous Clichés
Mally is jealous of Alice because Mally is in love with the Hatter.  (Burton-verse)
The Hatter loves tea. (All Alice fandoms)
Alice wants to be a businesswoman / apprentice with the company / go to China.  (Burton-verse)
Lowell Manchester is an irredeemable and dastardly scoundrel.  (Burton-verse)

NOTE: Feel free to contribute to previous clichés!  If you leave a comment with your contribution on the corresponding entry, I'll get pinged by LJ and will add a note in the next week's discussion about it.

Thanks! I hope this livens things up a bit. Our fandom has been rather quiet as a mouse lately... or as sleepy as a dormouse. (^__~)

Ooh...I was just thinking...I would like to see the cliche of Lowell-as-heartless-dog addressed. I know there's not much interest in Lowell, poor dear...but what if he's really not that bad of a chap? What if Margaret has ENCOURAGED him to find pleasure outside their marriage...and only tells Alice to think about her sister because of the social implications, not the emotional ones?

OR OR

I would love to see something addressing the issue of the Red Queen. (I know, I'm a sucker for Iracebeth POV) :P But especially about her husband. She said she HAD to do it...generally, it's thought that it's because of her being psychotic...but what if she really *had* to do it. Could be fun to play with. ;)
